Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I worked at the Happy Quest Adult Family Home for over 3 month's and left only when I had an urgent family matter to attend to.
I had worked in other homes previously and had a lot to compare it with. Overall, the home met my expectation exceedingly. I liked the set up that made it a home just for residents. It wa their home. The residents basically could use the space as their own without any restrictions whatsoever. The provider went out of his way and provided, for the use of residents, all manner of supportive supplies including recreation - also setting aside a section equipped for recreation. There was plenty of food and snacks, and he would put pressure on workers to ensure they were used by residents as needed. There was just a lot of food supplied even for workers. That was rare!
At induction time I noticed with admiration the professionalism of the provider. It didn't appear to me like he would take gloves and get to work and to work as by the books. I noticed and admired his culinary skills and the speed with which he delivered professionally. I saw how he managed one of the insulin dependent residents and the communication employed particularly to redirect her to accept insulin, which she had rejected. Then came dressing of wounds: that to me was just a plus - the delicate handling and dressing of the wound which had cut deep into the flush and with a sepsis was just special. Would I have that patiwnce and degrew of concentration? I had to ask if he had worked in a hospital. He did not reply; only smiled and asked me to ensure the service offered did not fall below the standards he personally demonstrated. He knew every residents with their needs, monitored changes and made follow up with ithe providers and family. I was both in a hospital and an adult family home. I thought I offered a lot more professional services at this home than I did at other family homes - thanks to the day to day training provided to workers over and above regular state given trainings I felt appreciated. I was given reading materials to help me understand company policy and standards of service required by the state. I had a chance to take a course during this short rime, and passed.
Residents talked about the home fondly. At least one resident said he never expected the home to turn out good and that after nearly 7 months of stay he could not exchange it for another residence, whatever the case. He said he loved, it, felt it was the place to be until death.
Were it not for my personal detractions, I would have loved to continue to work at Happy Quest Adult Family Home. It exceeded my expectations!
